Moreton Hall and Kings

The course is run jointly by Moreton Hall and Kings. Kings was established in 1957 and has been running specialist junior courses for over 26 years and is accredited by the British Council. Moreton Hall is an Independent School which provides education for girls from 3–18 and boys from 3–11 in term time and summer centres in July and August.

Moreton Hall’s qualified and experienced English teachers give the English lessons and qualified staff will run the sports and activity programme.

Parent and Child Courses

A great summer break for parents and children who wish to improve/learn English whilst having an active holiday.

Course for 3–7 year olds

In the mornings children attend 2 hours of formal English lessons, plus a swimming session. Swimming instruction can be available at extra cost, on request (this is in the afternoon).

In the afternoons, parents have a full programme of activities. On Wednesdays they have the option of taking their children with them on excursions or the children may take part in Moreton Hall’s renowned Holiday Club programme, where they continue to improve their English through interactive themed activities together with British boys and girls and children of other nationalities.

Courses for 8–10 and 11–13 year olds

Children enjoy 2 hours of formal English lessons every weekday morning, followed by a swimming session. Swimming instruction can be available at extra cost, on request (this is in the afternoon).

In the afternoons, parents have a full programme of activities. On Wednesdays they have the option of taking their children with them on excursions or the children may take part in Moreton Hall’s Holiday Club ‘Workshops’, focusing on developing skills in dance and drama, art and music and a variety of sports including fencing, tennis and football, archery and golf with qualified instructors. Here they continue to improve their English through interactive activities together with British boys and girls and children of other nationalities. This is an excellent opportunity for children to make friends with British children and to learn English in a friendly, informal environment.

Parents’ Intensive English course

The course consists of 15 hours of tuition per week. Levels of English will be assessed upon arrival and then teaching takes place in small groups every weekday morning. Every afternoon and at weekends a wide range of cultural, creative and sporting activities and excursions are available.

Informal evening activities will develop and improve conversational skills through quiz nights, cookery demonstrations, cocktail parties and canal walks to local pubs. Excursions include visits to local historic cities such as Chester and Shrewsbury, and further afield to Liverpool, Oxford and Manchester for cultural and shopping experiences.

Optional extras for parents

The programme includes lots of activities and excursions but the school sometimes organises additional excursions and activities if requested by the parents. These are not included in the price so we recommend that parents bring some spending money if they wish to join in with these optional activities.
